Meet Craig David - passionate about his singing and song writing, Craig has just released his hot new album, 'Slicker Than Your Average'.

When and why did you decide to pursue a music career?

When I turned about 14. I had done school plays and I was so passionate about music anyways it just seemed the natural step to go. It was surreal, it felt like I could make a career out of it, or maybe I should give it a try. The next thing I knew everything just seemed to fall into place. I look back and it was so clear, you go with the flow, maybe it could go right, maybe it won't.

Are there any artists that had a strong influence on your career?

Michael Jackson was one of those. Actually in the early days it was Boys II Men and R Kelly, people who were good songwriters and could really sing. I really wanted to work with my singing and song writing skills.

Can you tell us a little about your album 'Slicker Then Your Average'?

“'Slicker Then Your Average' really is a progression vocally from the first album "Born To Do It", because I’m more mature now, and it allows me to express myself in slightly different ways. Lyrically I was able to explain about my traveling, seeing so many places, and meeting so many different people. So lyrically I have more to talk about. It’s not necessarily a vector album like the first one but another time in my life. I’m 21, not an 18 year old writing my first album. I think people will grow with me, and notice the style of my music and the way that I’m developing."

You talked about touring. Where have you been touring?

"At the moment we’re doing a lot of promo. So we started in Japan about two and a half weeks ago. Then, we came over to America. We’ve been to New York, Detroit, and a few other states now. After this we’re going to Australia, Singapore, back to London and then back to America."

Where did you record your latest album, and how long did it take?

"We recorded the whole album in London actually. It took about three months to record, finish and make, because I was on the road touring. But yeah, it didn’t take too long to actually get the whole thing done."

Is London where you are originally from?

"I’m from a place called South Hampton in England, which is where the Titanic left."

Have you shot any videos?

"For the new album we shot the video for 'What’s your Flava' which is sort of a remake from a song from 'Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory'. For the second single, which is 'Hidden Agenda', we went out and shot it in Mexico, with Roselyn Sanchez, the girl who plays my leading lady in the song. Roselyn Sanchez was in the 'Rush Hour 2' video and she was so hot we had to make sure she was in our video too.

Now we’re on to 'Rise 'n' Fall' which is direct with Sting, and we just finished the video in the UK before we came out to America."

So when is that video going to be out?

"Actually, that video will be out in a few weeks. It's kind of different in the UK, in the way that you have airplay singles rather then newly released singles. So hopefully you’ll start hearing it soon."

Besides your music what other hobbies do you have?

"It’s always hard cause of my music but I like to play, I like sports and to work out as much as I can. I have a massive appetite so if I don’t do training stuff then the pounds start piling on. Soccer and badminton are also two of my favorite sports."

Do you have any advice for teenagers who are trying to make it in the music industry?

"Personally you have to stay focused, never take anything for granted, and enjoy what’s happening around you, because just when things start going your way, you miss something or lose something and it makes your realize how good you had it before. So stay focused, do your thing, and don’t be your best kept secret. If you have talent, don’t hold back so no one can hear it. Let people know that you have something. Try to be a good judge of character; it’s very difficult when you get spotted to know someone’s put your best interests at heart."

Do you have anything else in general that you would like to say to your fans at TeenFX.com?

"I would say:
1) Thank you for all your support because ultimately without your support I wouldn’t be signing any albums and I wouldn’t have had the great time I’ve had making this album. And
2) I look forward to coming back for the tour this summer. Make sure you come see my show because you’ll have a great time."

Craig David is huge over here in Britain too. everyone s him now that he is over at the U.S. we saw him in his home town of Southampton which is about 80miles (130km) from London which is a 2 hour drive. he was brilliant and said that he learned alot in America.
