Why did you want to become a rapper?

“I didn’t, I wanted to be an architect in school (laughing.) It’s just that rapping is the only thing that didn’t put me in jail. The choices were slim at the time. I’ve always been into hip-hop and I think it was a combo of my father not letting me listen to it and starting to write my own stuff. It gave me a different edge and a different liking for hip-hop.”

Which rappers inspired or influenced your music?

“Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Statsasonic was bumping back then. All types of old [stuff]; whatever was lyrical at the time.”

Was it hard for you to break into the rap scene?

“I didn’t make demos or tapes, or anything like that. The first thing that I did was appearing on a track with KT and Mc Breeze.”

What advice could you offer to other rappers trying to come up in this very competitive industry?

“Just stick to the craft man. Keep focused on what you do and do that the best. Make sure that your outside studio activities are just as good as your inside studio activities. You can’t be a dick man (laughing.) A lot of people let this [stuff] go to their heads.”

How has success affected you?

“I get to pay my bills on time and I get to send my son to a private school. Other than that, I’m the same ‘ol G.”

What is the best CD ever?

“ Public Enemy- Fear of a Black Planet.”

How did you like working with Dr. Dre?

“ I loved it man, Dre’s a genius. He knows exactly how to bring the best outta the artist. He shows you the direction that you should be taking and then you take your own creativity to the next level. He’s the Quincy Jones of hip-hop man.”

Who would you like to work with in the future?

“I got Open Bar entertainment jumping. That’s my record label going through Columbia and Loud. I’ve done a lot of guest appearances, so now I want to work and develop new artists and bring them into the scene.”

What are your plans for the future?

“It’s gotta be Amsterdam. It rocks and rolls man. It’s a crazy show every night.”

What messages are you trying to portray to your fans?

“When I go through [stuff] and experience things that change my outlook on life, I try to take my listeners through that process with me. I take from my past experiences and people I look up to.”

How do you think rap has changed in the past 10 years?

“In 10 years, it went from millions to billions; From BET to VH1. It went from two rappers on the mic to full stage productions. It knocked every kind of music genre out of the water. It’s solidified itself as a form of music and is a force to be reckoned with.”

Where do you see music going in the future?

“The sky’s the limit. It can go anywhere.”

What are you listening to now?

“I’m recording a new record. I’m listening to that right now. It’s going very well. I like to think that I always do better than my last. I’m definitely expanding and going new places.”

Is there anything you would like to say to your TeenFX fans?

“ Thanks for the support. Get your priorities in order, as there is a lot of B.S. going on now that we have no control over. Stay focused, keep a clear mind and be balanced in your decision-making. We are the fabric of society.”
