How and when did you get started in the music business?

Patrick: Mark who’s from Boston moved down to Orlando looking for stuff to get involved in. That is when he met Ben, who is originally from Atlanta, but lived in California his whole life. They were looking for people to start a band, people that could play, dance and look good.

Michael and I have been friends for a long time and we bumped into each other at a friend’s party. That is where we met Mark and we started talking. We met J through one of Ben’s old voice coaches who happened to be with him that night. It was definitely fate.

What was it like to open for the Monkees?

Surreal would be the only way to describe it.
Patrick: I am a fan of the Monkees and actually a lot of people asked us “Do you even know who they are?” My dad had a lot of Records from the Beatles and the Monkees, and, of course, I saw their show on reruns so I knew who they were and all the songs.

When Lou (Lou Perlman) said that we might be opening for the Monkees were like “Yeah, right”, but it really didn’t hit us until we started rehearsals for the tour.

"J": For me it was when we were standing on stage every night singing with them. I was thinking, “What the heck are we doing”.

How did you come up with the name Natural?

Patrick: The way we came up with the name is because we play our own instruments. The dancing and singing, it was all self taught. It’s not like we started at the age of 5 taking musical, dance or singing lessons. We were not working professionally at the age of 5. For instance, I just started playing the guitar about a year ago. Of course, now we get lessons and use our resources as much as possible.

Have you been influenced by any artists?

Definitely, all artists. We learn something from everybody. Whether it’s something like, I don’t like the transition in a show, for instance. So you can learn everything that you would like to do and what you wouldn’t like to do.

It’s actually pretty funny now, because when we go to a concert we’re looking at how the band is playing and doing certain things, to really just look at the overall performance. On the road, we buy DVD’s of concerts to watch anywhere, from Paul McCartney to Bon Jovi.

If you never became involved in the music business, where do you think you would be right now?

"J": I did a lot of musical theatre and musical directing before I also did a lot of dancing. So I would probably be dancing somewhere in L.A.

TeenFX: Do you have a favorite play that you were in?

"J": I would have to say that my favorite play that I have ever done was 'Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.'

What would you like to tell teens about yourself? What kind of message would you like to send to today’s teens?

If you want to do something, anything, it doesn’t have to be in music, don’t give up. I know that you hear that all the time, but there were a lot of times in our career where we had to just stick with it. Look at where we are now. If we didn’t stick with it we wouldn’t be where we are right now.

Is it hard to stay close to your friends and family with such a busy work schedule?

Yes, because you are calling them in-between going from point A to point B, and then if you have time, point B to point C. Our friends call, and sometimes they don’t understand when we tell them that the reason we could not call them back is because we were busy. Our job is a little time consuming.

Is it strange or weird to be viewed as heartthrobs or in a status like that?

It’s kind of weird. When we go out and people recognize us, it is kind of weird still. When we did the Claire’s appearance, we would walk around the corner from the back entrance of the mall, and we would have girls screaming and crying behind us. There’s no way to really describe it, it’s just strange.

Is there anything else that you would like to tell the TeenFX users?

Go buy the single “Put Your Arms Around Me”. We just finished our first video about a month ago and we just had the world premiere at Planet Hollywood. It is going to be released to Fox Family immediately, so call TRL and request the video so you can see it on MTV.

I have something to say, if all of everyone hating on them met them, you wouldn't hate them anymore. They might be a boy band but they are the sweetest, down-to-earth guys. They love to have fun. I have decided to buy 2 albums. One for me and one for my girlfriend. The song not like an i love you...kiss me all over...lift up your shirt...degrading song (like most of BSB and N'Sync's stuff). Its more about friendlyness and caring for someone who has died or a friend, girlfriend, mother, brother, etc...type of song. It can mean a lot and can be directed at anything.

I have this group's single.. it's really pretty good, i mean when i first saw them i thought "oh, another 'boyband' for *NSync to squash." but they remind me more of BBMak... they played in one of the mall's in Jackson, MS.. I missed it, but I have another chance to see them again at a radio station's birthday bash.. so hopefully I'll get to check them out live!
