Ella and Jesse of Killing Heidi
AUDIO: | RealPlayer

When and how did you first come together to form the band?

We had alot of free time growing up and started playing instruments around the house. We did not have any formal training. It was more of a hobby and self taught.

Were you influenced by other musicians or your parents to become involved in the music business?

No, not really. Our parents encouraged us, but did not push us into it. They always knew that this is what we would end up doing. We have always been focused on music, you can say that music was always our dream.

How hard was it to become established in such a competitive industry?

It took some time. Our single "Weir" hit #1 on the alternative charts in Australia and stayed there for 6 months, it got kicked off and went onto main stream radio.

What is the best/worst part of being on stage?

The best part of being on stage is the rush you get by playing for hundreds of people of all ages and having them sing your songs along with you. It's the best feeling. There is no bad part of being on stage.

Do you have anything special (rituals) that you do before going on stage?

No, not really. We just like to hangout by ourselves and have some quiet time together. We rev each other up.

Are there any artists that you would like to work with in the future?

We would love to work with any artist, Placibo or Annie DeFranco just to name two.

What is your greatest fear regarding your career?

We don't have any real fears. We just hope that we will be around for a while and if that doesn't happen then that's okay. We are very happy go lucky.

How would you like to be viewed by teens and what kind of message would you like to send to teens today?

We would like to be viewed as just cool real people. I (Ella) would like to tell teens to "Chill out, take a step back and be cool about things. It's all in how you perceive it!"

Where would you like to see yourself in 10 years?

Ella - I would like to be sitting on a hammock in some vineyard writing music. Jesse - I would like to be on a Ocean Liner with a built in recording studio.

What's it like being in the same band as your brother/sister?

It's a little hard being together all the time, but at the same time it's nice. You always have someone there who really knows and understands you and can help you express yourself.

And to whomever wrote the article, it's Ani DiFranco not Annie DeFranco or however you spelt it. Just to let you KNOW.

Shannon, you're such an ignorant bitch. You don't use fag to describe a band you don't like. You don't say someone looks like a dyke because that's just wrong. You must be an immature little f*ck. Just because you don't like the kind of music that they play (actually, you said you didn't KNOW who they were) then who cares? Don't read the article, you don't need to start bashing them calling them "fags" ... I agree with whomever wrote about the Nazi's, you're such a punk.

Anyways, I've never heard the band but I think I'll check them out.

Killing Heidi is a good group. I'm not really into that kind of music, but I heard it and it sounded good.

tracy 01-28-03
No comment besides another band I have never heard of. Where do you find these bands?

Lindsay 09-02-02
I`ve never heard of " Killing Heidi"....Does anyone on here have their cd? Or have any of you ever listened to any of there songs? I really like their style!

Tanna 08-29-02
I didn't read the interview or any other of the comments besides Shannon's, but what a b!tch. Such an ignorant person to use the word "fag." Do you know what it means? Essentially, if you use the word, you're a NAZI. Like being a NAZI, NAZI? NAZI's burned young homosexual men and called them fags. The real definition of a faggot is "A bundle of twigs, sticks, or branches bound together." And the NAZIs burned the men as if they were a bundle of twigs.

And what's wrong with being a dyke? I'm not a dyke, but I know some and they are perfectly nice people.

Sarah 08-29-02
They sound familiar..... What kind of music r they?

i heard killing heidi the first time from my friend... she dedicated the song 'mascara' to me... because she thinks that it described me... i found that it helped me realized that some of things i was doing and saying and acting like weren't totally me... this song and this band have inspired me but most of all they helped me find out who i really am... I am now a full out killing heidi band... and im glad to see that they are getting some fame now! 'dont be stupid girl'
