When I think pop music, I think Hillary Duff, BSB, NSuck, Ashlee Simpson and all that poppy bubble gum sh*t. Pop music sucks because, in my personal opinion, its all sugar coated and sweet. It is usually filled with obnoxious beats and altered via computers. Most of the music isn't written by the artist, and when it is its "co-written". I prefer songs that I can relate to, that have depth and meaning. But everyone has their own taste.
I'm the anti-pop as well.

Greg, I think I just explained what I consider pop music to be. You need to work on your grammar skills by the way, bud.
And yes, I have bought a pop album or two.::bows head in shame::.BUT I was stating perviously the pop music that i DON"T like. Besides Sugar Ray and Pink (yes, pink) I HATE pop music. Its all bubbly and happy go lucky. I'm far from happy go lucky.

I can't stand when people say it's all sugar coated and crap. That's like if I said rock music is all depressing and hate filled. Pop music, believe it or not, does have meaning, depth, and subtance. Just because it's not accompanied by granging guitars and a singer screaming into the mic doesn't mean it's meaningless.

The "pop" genre is so wide that it's hard to catagorize yourself into Anti-Pop. I mean you can have rock pop and other sub-genre's etc. We did a whole chapter on pop music in my music class about two years ago and i've nearly forgotten most of it but it's definately too varied a genre for me to hate it. And i agree with Megastar. Alot of pop songs do have depth and are totally ingrained in culture forever. I just have to say two words to varify my point: Michael Jackson.

Some Pop is okay for me. My favorite Pop band would be the Pet Shop Boys. I don't know if you had heard of them but they're from the early 1980s.
