It is very hard to get over your nerves and there really isn't a way to get rid of them. But there are ways to calm them down. When you go to the audition for Bye Bye Birdie, bring a friend to audition for it too, or to just be there for support. It's always good to have someone there cheering you on. Another thing that I have learned from a great director that I have worked with is a relaxation technique called a spine fold. What you do is put your feet shoulder width apart with your arms at your side. Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out. Then what you do is slowly start to release your head down and just keep rolling down slowly, one virtabre at a time. When you feel tension in your legs you can slightly bend them. Remeber to keep your head and arms completly loose. Once your arms get close to the floor, just stay there for a few seconds taking deep breaths in and out. Then you can start to slowly come up. The last thing to come up should be your head. Once you are up, take one last deep breath in and out and just stand there for a second to feel how relaxed you are. This exersize works great for nerves and gives you energy. P.S. Try for the part of Ursula in Bye Bye Birdie. I played that part and its so much !

| ignore the audience! pretend they aren't there! DO NOT BREAK THE 4th WALL!!!! If u do, u 'll only get more nervous. Always remember, if u mess up, ur fellow actors will cover for u! | |

The virtabre technique s alot. What I always do is I do warm-ups. Toung twisters, rhymes, phsyical stuff to get me going. You might have seen this before opening for the show each night. For actors, at least in my school, its warm-ups. For teching its "Techie Luv". If you find you're still having problems, try teching for a show. You're not infront of the audience but you do so much work for it. Costumes, lights, sound, flying (which deals with the curtains... usually a guy does it because they're heavy, but they're still ! My fiance taught me how to do those.)
Just relax your muscles and breathe. Close your eyes for a moment, roll your head or shoulders and SMILE! For auditions its always good to have . And what's best is to read the play before auditions start, that way you know about the play and the characters and look like you know what you're doing up there!
Break a leg, my dear, in all your other auditions!
