This is perfect - the subject of your post was the reason I even came to this page in the first place.
My favorite local bands are (And they all kick lots of ass):
Teenage Rehab is a local punk band that has gone on tour with a band whose name I think is The Lilliths, and is touring another state in the near future, and one of their songs is on a compilation on Amp Records. Their website is www.off icialte enagerehab.cjb.net ....and Alex Reject the drummer was a member of my high school last year...I even had detention with him...:D
The Llamas is another local punk band. They've been to lots of places in the country, and this October will be playing a show that has a bill including the Groovie Ghoulies! I went to school with both the bassist, Joey, and the guitarist, Michael last year. Michael is a good friend of mine, and I met him when I visited the place that is now my home a few years ago, because he'd become good friends with my older brother, considering the fact that he is my grandmother's next door neighbor. I've talked to Joey and become good accquaintances with him after buying one of his band's T-shirts (which right now I am wearing), and he is a guy, too. I don't know the drummer but I'm sure he's too. The band's website is www.the llamas.cjb.net.
1 Size Fits All is yet another punk rock band. The guitarist is a good friend of mine Matt, who, hilariously, lives in the house on the other side of my grandmother...so I met him the same way I did Michael from The Llamas. The bassist, Leighton, is also a person. He went to my school last year as well, as did the drummer. I've never talked to him personally but I shared a detention class with him and he seemed to me. The drummer is also . I've seen them a lot and they're pretty good. They are also to play the show with the Groovie Ghoulies next month. I don't think they have a website but if they do I'll post it up as soon as I get it.
Lojaque and the Flaming Nahdbits is...well...I don't even think they have a genre that you can specifically place them into. To get an idea of what their music is like (or simply what the thoughts in their heads are), such songs credited to their name include: "Mall Security Guard", "No Rest for the Wicked", "Warhead of Love", and "Hermaphroditic Porn"...the last one is gross and not one of my favorites but still the others are ny and they're really to see...Also their stage sets include wild shenanigans...a girl in a cheerleading outfit with a big 'N' on her shirt carries out some pom poms and just dances in the crowd, showing off her Nahdbits spirit; a guy in a gorilla suit and a guy in a chicken suit battle each other in the crowd; one of the band members dresses in a red velvet suit that is trimmed with white fur with black spots, with a matching hat that is one of those hats that look sort of like air balloons, with clown makeup on his face...; Another member dresses up as a viking and plays a fake viking axe that he made himself as his instrument; and the main vocalist is just this looking guy, basically. So they're one of my favorites to see, but I haven't seen them in a long time, since about a month before our local music punk/metal club Worlds Apart was shut down in June. Their website is: www.ang elfire. com/tn2 /flamingnahdbits.
Krakt is a metal band and they are just really really good. I'm an official street team member and promote as a hobby. They're a pretty heavy band with lots of diverse influences, including jazz, but they also give off the mood of a kind of melodic ambience. One of the guitarists, Jer'my added me to his buddy list and he is really in general...I've managed to talk to Kevin, the bassist, and he was also just as and really . I haven't managed to have a conversation with anyone else in the band but I will dammit! And their website is www.krakt.com.
September 22 is a very heavy, death-metalish band from Tennessee, and they are one of the best bands I've seen live. I talked to the vocalist and we've negotiated the appearance of some of my p ography from the show to appear on their website. Their site is www.sep tember22nd.cjb.net.
Last but not least is Realm, which is one of my favorite bands I've ever seen, and although they haven't been signed to a major label yet (but they're getting close), like the others, they have a wide fan base. They are very heavy and the singer George has really deep, raging vocals and is one of the est people I've ever met. I've talked to him a lot and he was about everything and wasn't annoyed once by the mal ction of the street team board I was experience and my questions about with it and basically they are one of my very favorites on this list. Realm's website is www.realmstl.com
