NSYNC’s Celebrity
Celebrity," a song somewhat similar to "Pop," discusses the trials of being in a high profile relationship. In the lyrics, a guy gets heavily played because all the girl seems to want is money and material things from him because he is a celebrity. Pop is about pop music. "The Game is Over" is a great post breakup song that everyone can relate to. It combines the high energy of sampled video game sounds with empowering lyrics to show that pesky ex that you've moved on.
"Girlfriend," Its laid-back feeling and good vibe give it two thumbs up. The first ballad is "Gone," It's a simple yet beautiful ballad about letting someone go only to realize that you really need him or her in your life. Tell Me, Tell Me...Baby" is another fast song about questioning why someone doesn't want to be with another person. In contrast, "Up Against the Wall" is about a girl that marches up to the guy she wants and nabs him before he realizes what's going on. Once the poor guy realizes what's hit him, he's already under her spell. Both are wonderful songs and again are great to dance to. Selfish" is my favourite song hands down. Basically, the song is about a guy that is falling in love with a girl more and more each day, but she is scared to get into another relationship after being badly hurt in the past.
"Just Don't Tell Me That" is another song about a guy being burned by a fake girl. All she wants is the glamour that comes with being in a relationship with this guy, but he's sick and tired of it.
"Something Like You" is another really pretty ballad. Not only does Stevie Wonder accompany their vocals on the harmonica, but the lyrics are great too. The guy in this song is past the head-over-heels stage of a crush. He's completely infatuated with a girl and is telling her how he feels.
When I first heard "Do Your Thing," I wondered what it was about. It's somewhat confusing the first time you hear it, but I think after listening to this amazing CD several dozens of times I've come to the conclusion that it's about reaching for the stars and going for your dream.
