Grad Trip To Cuba

I am just finishing up my third and final year of college. I've been working like mad, literally seven days a week, sometimes double shifts. In about five weeks I will be relieved of all my work. I am rewarding all my hard work with an inexpensive trip to Cuba, Santa Lucia. I haven't booked it yet because it is more expensive to book in March than it is April, and if you book last minute, you are more likely to get a good deal. The hotel I am planning to go to is a four-star with 150 rooms, a beach five minutes down the road, and lots of excursions available. The price for my parents who went just last week was $548, and that is with taxes, all expenses all inclusive. I am so excited. I've been to Cuba before, and they have by far the best pina coladas. This is also the first time I will be traveling by myself (with one friend who has never traveled before). Does anyone have any tips to keep safe when traveling?

i didnt even know hemingways house was there. I was in cienfuegos and only visited the small and very poor country of trinidad. I was spoiled as a kid, so ive been to a lot of other places. the food is very plain, but its eatable.

This is so interesting. One of my friends is going to Cuba this summer. What is the food like and do you have any other tips? Did you visit Hemingway's house?

well i just got back from my trip and my biggest piece of advice...bring a mini pharmacy. even if not for u, you never know who will need it. i got eaten alive by bugs and thankfully a lady down there had some bug spray, camomile lotion and i was lucky to remember "after bite" which is supposed to relieve the itch. she also got really bad blisters and lucky enough i had bandaids and alcohol swabs!

thanks, that is good advice. I remember 3 years ago when i went a bunch of the workers at the el tried to get my cuzin and me to leave the resort to go to a club with them. id never ever do it, and i dont understand how some tourists could sleep around up there, i mean, std central:S again, thanks

the best i can give is just stick together. i hate to bring it up but this is a good example. the girl who got went missing on her trip with her friends. she left her group with some guys. do NOT do that and i would never recommend leaving somewhere to hang out with random ppl i mean sure its to like hang with them and talk with them at the place u met at but dont give out info like ur cell or the place of where ur staying.
