Kathakali Dance - Theatre in India
I am directing a play at my school and am interested in any information you people might have about it. It is a play for our annual World Cultural Fair. It is based on Kathakali dance, a type of play (if you will) founded in India. They use dance, make-up, and exenterated costumes to convey political and spiritual messages. It is somewhat hard to understand though, which is my main problem. I want to show everyone the wonderful culture outside our own, but I do not want him or her (the audience) to be confused or shut down when they begin to see it. Has anyone dealt with Kathakali Dance or productions out there?
