HP: Bad Brand?
Hi. I bought a new HP Compaq lap top in August this year. It cost me about $2000 all up. A few weeks after I bought it, the CD/DVD drive broke down and wouldn't open. And when I pressed it, the computer restarted. I took it back to where I bought it and they sent it away to get fixed. That took 4 weeks to get fixed. Earlier this month, my laptop broke again. This time it was the mouse click button that wouldn't work and also it kept overheating and freezing on me. So once again, I took it back. I got it back this Tuesday and went to the car to try it and the other mouse button didn't work! So it came back worse than what it was! Argh! I went back and suggested a replacement as this one was obviously faulty and they couldn't fix the problem. They said they couldn't replace it until they get authorization from HP themselves. I waited all week for HP to ring me. By Friday, I rang consumer affairs and asked what my rights were, which they said, "Wherever you bought it from has to replace it, not the company or brand of laptop." So I went in to see them and told them this. Consumer affairs rang them up and the next day they said I could have a full refund! Yay! :) So I bought an ASUS laptop! Has anyone else had problems with HP? What about ASUS?

HP is #1 in computers. Everything I own is Hp. Computers, Monitors, Printers, Televisions, and Cameras. I've never had a problem

A friend here at college had to send her HP back, because hers refused to function properly. But she's the only person I've known to have issues, and HP is fairly popular around here. I personally have a Gateway, no problems.

Sony Vaio's the way to go.

After going through 4 laptops last year, I decided to buy an HP because my dell was stolen. Like you, I have a minor problem with a key as well, but you can't expect one to run like an expensive Vaio. Anyway, ASUS ain't that popular but its pretty good, but the best you can get is a sony or toshiba. Cheers.

I have an HP Pavilion, and I've never had any problems with it except for when my brother dropped it. One of the keys wouldn't work, but I kept playing with it, the laptop restarted and it went back to its old self. I hear that Compaqs aren't that great though, so it might just be the type that you got.

You have had your problems! I wonder if you bought a lemon or do all HP computers give some sort of problems.
