Secret Pals. Help?

I'm in the school play because my best friend's sister is into drama and asked me to be an extra. As a "cast bonding" activity, we have secret pals. We have to buy them a gift every week until the final production, which isn't until May. My secret pal is a girl named Catherine that I haven't really met before. I personally have never gotten into anime, but Catherine really, really likes it. Not all of the gifts have to be nice or expensive or anything, but I'd like to get her at least a couple of things that she will actually really enjoy. I was wondering what kind of gift do you get some one that's into anime? Is there like a good graphic novel someone wants to recommend? Pease, please help!

Hm, well, yeah, I agree. Get a magazine. They have a lot of variety and maybe you can get her some books that just have drawings of anime or little things like that. There are quite some interesting books that don't nesessarily HAVE to be a manga, but yet anime based. ^^

Hmm...if you don't have any clue at all, maybe a magazine would be a good idea. Some good English-language anime and/or manga magazines: Animerica, Shojo Beat, Newtype USA (though Newtype is more expensive than the others, since it includes preview DVDs with each issue). Most of the other English-published ones (such as Anime Insider) are aimed at younger kids. Japanese manga anthologies (basically magazines that include chapters from several series that they're running) are bigger and cheaper than English ones, but they're usually genre-specific and she might not understand Japanese (though some people who don't still like these). If you do have a good Japanese bookstore around, though, such as Kinokuniya, Margaret is aimed at older girls and might be a good choice. Well...do you know of any titles or genres she's interested in, or maybe even some of her personal interests that might tie into a series? Anime is a broad medium, so it's hard to pick a specific idea based on just that.
