Worried
I recently found out that my dog may have heart worms. I got him tested because I wanted to put him on interceptor. They tested him and said that the test came out posotive and they had to take another blood sample and send it to the lab to be absolute. Well they took another sample and I took him home waiting for the results. They called me later that night and said that the labs results hadnt come back yet but they had retested his blood again at his place and that this time it came out negative. Now i dont know what to think. I have to wait to figure it out. Not only can the heart worms kill him but the treatment for it can. Its very rare in my area that I live in. The vet has only had to do two treatments of heart worms in our area in the past five or six years. He acts perfectly healthy. Im hoping that the labs test results come out negative. Has anyone else ever had a pet with heartworms? Did they make it through the treatment ok?

my dog tested posotive for them at the vets when i also went to put him on the medication, i understand how horrid you feel right now worrying about your dog. i have the same story with my dogs being tested, they tested twice at the vets and first was posotive and second was negative and then the lab came back to say negative. i hope you have the same luck. alot of dogs can make it through being treated for heartworms if the heartworms arent to bad and you have a good caring vet. if your dog has them its good you caught them now.

I'm sorry.. but with medication I know that dogs can live and be just fine. It's good that you found out now about the heartworm so that your dog can get treated as soon as possible. I hope everything goes well!
