The Perfect Magazine
I'm a young black teen looking for answers for a black society. I don't want to look at a magazine full of blonde girls ... want no SKINNY blonde girls. I want a magazine of medium to dark skinned fat to skinny black girls.I know that there are other girls who'd like that.

I want stories that actually mean something. I want the magazine to show clothes that you can actually AFFORD! I'm middle class and can't rake in a lot of money. I want black stars and actresses, not the same old Beyonce on the cover. How about Fantasia or even Raven Symone? I want them to talk about black struggle. And a magazine that talks about hooking up with guys instead of making it look like you shouldn't be shy. I want them to have a broader perspective and show that not everyone is skinny blonde and rich.

To a previous reply: Aren't makeup, fashion, and dating tips the same for any race? Sure, certain colours of makeup look better on certain skin tones, but most brands feature a wide range with something that can work for anyone.

Im half black so i never had a problem with the "color issues" in magazines. I really dont care. I just hate how everything in those magazines are like 400$ and up!!

ummm...think for a second about this. pretend that i wrote an article and said this:

"omg! i can't stand when magazines have only like curvy black girls in it! because i'm skinny and blonde and i don't like it and can't relate"

that sounds kind of racist and mean, huh?

whats the difference?
there isn't one.

and btw i'm not skinny and blonde....i'm just saying.

I agree with this article. It is hard to get answers from teen magazines unless you are a thin white girl. Magazines should appeal to more audiences. Young black girls (or any other ethnic background), in my opinion, have nothing to read to get make-up, fashion, dating tips or anything else they might be interested in. TEEN MAGAZINES should appeal to TEEN GIRLS in every size, color, and background.

So, you don't like people who aren't the same race as you?

Granted, I think most of the prominent blonde models are on the ugly side...but it almost sounds like you think only black people should be able to model in magazines.

I agree im African American and if that magazine existed i would buy it. I dont kno of a magazine that cater's to a young minority society or a mag that talks about issues that matter most of them say they are trying to show you how to be confident but really it seems more like they are trying to show you how to be something that you are not. Im with you 100%

I tottally agree, i HATE seeing all these fabulauose clothes that I could never afford in a million years. There is one magazine that I subscribe to that I think you would like called Seventeen, the clothes are mainly afordable, and the models are all shapes and sizes. Check it out.
