Junior High Plays
I was thinking about introducing the idea of an annual drama production to my school... just for the younger students, grades seven to nine.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good scripts we could use that have good content for junior high students.

When I first came to the school, I was sad as anything to find out we had no drama productions. Now I feel that we should, and I have to do SOMETHING about it. I hope that if I do all my research first, like the cost and ticket sales and scripts, dates, etc., that they will give me a chance.

Why dont you try doing what my school did. We did a Youth Theatre production where anybody who signed up got to be in it and the teenagers wrote all the songs and the script and came up with the idea for the production. It was awesome and it even got picked up by the council in the city nearby and now we're getting ready to perform it in one of the theatres in the city. They even had students doing the lighting and band was all students and we're selling it on dvd as well. Its a great thing to do and its really fun. Thats the sorta thing you should do, it would be totally original and it would be what the students wanted.

I agree with Tommy, David Mammett is an AWESOME playwright, you should definitely check him out. I'd also suggest checking out your school and local libraries and asking them if they have any plays worthy of a read.

Anything by David Mammet *rims hot*

If you don't get the irony, don't do drama.

Don't mind "Heroless". It's just this weird person with no life pretending he is a mean person.
Anyway, Phantom of the Opera would be cool, or a Teen Drama.

I dont know what is wrong with the person below me is on about because they seem to have a problem with all my articles. Anyway there are always good plays about. I am in musicals and a popular one is GREASE. It totally rules. But if your not thinking of doing a musicl maybe get some of the students to get together and write a script. Our drama group did that and it was an excellent oppurtunity cause some of the students weren't so keen on acting but really wanted to get involved in writing it. It also means your play will be original!

Good Luck
