Computer for College
Hey!
Well, I just finished high school, and I will be staring college in less than two months. I'm really excited!
Anyway, I want to get a laptop computer to take with me, because it would be a whole lot more convenient than taking my computer that I already have. I just don't really know what's the best. Even if I look up computers, I don't really know how to compare stuff, because I don't really know very much about computers in the first place.
What would be a good computer to buy? I have a few friends that recently bought apple computers, and they really like them. I have some that got other brands, and they like them to. What seems to be the best kind? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd hate to start a war here, but don't get a Dell. They have terrible customer service, and their notebook line forces you to choose between fully loaded and very bulky/heavy vs. ultralight but without the essentials. And they may look inexpensive at first, but by the time you add all the necessary "extras," you've raised the price a couple grand.

WIndows XP is, by nature, a real pain. You may not realise it yet, but it's a lot less convenient than it should be, and the holes in its infrastructure make it easy for hackers to steal valuable information.

I bought my iBook last year for $1,300-1,500, I forget. This may sound a little pricey, but like a new Benz, it's fully loaded with everything you need. I was considering laptops from Dell, HP, and Toshiba, to name a few, but after adding necessary "extras" the prices of all of them were well over $2,000. Believe it or not, Apple is the cheaper way to go.

It's lightweight, small (mine's a 12-inch), powerful, pretty, and capable of tackling any college assignment. Just ask my history class, whom I embarassed with my kick-a$$ Keynote presentation (they all used mediocre Powerpoint). Everyone was impressed, it was an easy A, and no doubt all the students who haven't presented yet are at home trying to get their presentations to be as neat as mine. Unfortunately for them, they've got the wrong kind of computers...

I also got a dell laptop for next year when I go to college. The Dell laptops are great! I got the Inspiron 6000 and it is awesome. The Dell website has new deals every month, and they are usually pretty good deals! I got a free 80 GB upgrade, and a free dell printer with my laptop...i would definately recommend dell. Their prices are very reasonable too.

Hey! I just graduated from high school too. My parents bought me a Dell laptop for my graduation present and I absolutely :) it! Mine was $1200. There are cheaper ones that are like $600, but they don't have all the software and stuff. You are better off to get one around $1200 like mine because they come with almost all the software you need....hope I helped. If you have any questions you can email me on TeenFX.
