High School Band is the Best!
Band is the most amazing entity in a school. I play flute in the wind symphony in San Diego. We have one of the best directors in the state. Our wins many awards and we are the only band in our district that is invited to marching competitions in the Los Angeles area. So what makes being in a band so much fun? The friends, for one thing. Being in band means that you are constantly around each other. Band gives you a disciplined and dedicated attitude towards school as well as to future goals. I spent an average of 750 hours last year practicing, fundraising, having sectionals, and going to competitions. That's an average number for everyone else in band. The music is my number one reason for being in band. While you're playing, you have the sense of being apart of something that is bigger than yourself, school, beyond your control. It shows you the truest emotions of the human spirit without actually speaking. When it comes time for me to leave high school in two years, I want to be able to say that I enjoyed my high school experience. Being involved in since the sixth grade has allowed me that privilege. So in closing, as I am sure everyone reading this knows, never give up on music because it is a part of your memories forever. I will look back with fondness on high school because I have wonderful memories of practicing with friends and playing in shows and parades. It is a great feeling to march off of a football knowing that you just accomplished something powerful. To know that you did so well that it does not matter what score you receive. Band has, and always be, the single most powerful and influential force in my life. Enjoy the time while you still have it.
